Thomas Müller aka Der Raumdeuter (i.e. “space interpreter”) gives advice about running into space.
Players without the ball make the runs and the right decisions.
Receiving the ball in the feet does not present any danger for the opponent side.
Think first and run into space before the ball is there. Work hard.
Force the defenders to make decisions, that’s the key.
Example: if ball is on the left flank and is passed backwards, then typically defenders move up the field a few steps. Then there’s the opportunity to chip the ball forward diagonally over the defenders.
